Matsumoto

Edi Matsumoto’s work has won numerous awards and has been shown at galleries and museums locally, nationally, and internationally including the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the Triton Museum of Arts in Santa Clara, and Pacific Grove Art Center. Her work has been featured in prestigious art magazines including Fine Art Connoisseur and American Art Collector.

Edi’s artistic talent was discovered by her husband, Fred, who saw her simple sketch from Paris and told her to go to art school. Soon she enrolled and earned her Master’s degree in Fine Art from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2018. After 30 years in healthcare, including working with Mother Theresa in Kolkata, India, Matsumoto retired from the hospital to concentrate on her art.

Her favorite subjects include local landscapes and faces and figures, especially in culturally diverse settings. She explores the line between realism and abstract to redefine the gap between the conceptual reality and what is.
