Amanda

Menefee

Amanda is a lifelong and creative artist who has honed her skills over decades of dedicated practice and study. Born and raised in Northern California, she initially pursued veterinary medicine before discovering her true passion in the visual arts.

Amanda’s artistic journey has been shaped by diverse experiences, from her early days in 4-H and horseback riding to her time as a high school math teacher, where she found creative ways to integrate art into her lessons. After a life-changing accident, she retired from teaching and began to focus more intently on her art practice.

Drawing inspiration from the natural world, Amanda specializes in pastel landscapes, capturing the vibrant colors and textures of the places she has traveled. She has also explored acrylics, creating dynamic murals that showcase her versatility.

Driven by a desire for continuous growth, Amanda has studied under renowned artists, including Randy Wilson, her father and first art teacher, as well as Wayne Thiebaud and Ken Morrow. She currently works with Romanoos Mattonen through the Pacific Grove Art Center, challenging herself to explore new techniques and expand her artistic abilities.

In addition to her landscape work, Amanda enjoys creating portraits, animal studies, seascapes and still life compositions. Her dedication to her craft is matched by her passion for an active lifestyle, as she continues to enjoy tennis, pickleball, and running.

Now based on the Monterey Peninsula with her partner, Ken, and their furry companions, Amanda remains committed to sharing her artistic vision with the world, inviting viewers to experience the beauty and wonder that she finds in the everyday.
