The gallery has flourished because of the convenient location for local residents, tourists and Monterey convention attendees.

Venture Gallery is an artist owned and operated gallery, meaning that the member artists show an interest in the success of the Gallery as a whole, as well as in their own personal success.

Enthusiasm, generosity of spirit, and cooperative effort have made Venture Gallery a success for over 35 years. Gallery members strive to provide ideal selling hours, an attractive facility and a full business services, including easy shipping opportunities.

Qualifications

Members must live within 50 miles of the gallery.

Venture Gallery does not exhibit photography or digital images, or nudes as a subject.

Selection of new members by the Board is based on:
1. The quality and consistency of their work,
2. Experience in the artistic field – exhibitions, awards and related endeavors,
3. Their willingness to participate in the day-to-day operations of the Gallery.

Obligations

Since everything from hosting the gallery to changing light bulbs is voluntarily carried out by member artists, the third criteria, volunteerism, is an essential factor in the selection process. If selected, it is expected that members work a minimum of two 4-hour shifts, pay a one time membership fee, plus a monthly display fee. The gallery takes a small sales commission that covers overhead.
